General Accountant

The General Accountant shall play a key role in preparing financial statements, analyzing accounting data, supporting budgeting activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Prepare and analyze financial reports, statements, budgets, and business forecasts. Compile and interpret accounting data to support stakeholder in business decision-making. Assist the CFO’s office with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Perform account reconciliations and prepare and present variance analysis.

Professionals pursuing their CPA designation and who have prior experience may apply for the role too.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, and assist in preparing management reports and financial commentaries
• Support compliance with statutory and regultory requirements, and accounting standards
• Ensure financial reporting aligns with IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP where applicable
• Assist with internal and external audit requests

Candidate Profile:

• Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
• CPA designation completed or actively pursuing CPA certification preferred
• 3+ years of accounting or finance experience in a business environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
• Understanding of statutory and regulatory compliances, IFRS, ASPE, and US GAAP
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access)
• Cost accounting or costing experience is considered an asset
• Strong communication skills and professional business acumen
• Must be legally authorised to work within Canada
